I really enjoyed this one. People are always a challenge to paint and get a good likeness. One of the disadvantages to acrylics is that the paint often dries a darker color than when it is was originally painted in. This makes the portrait process even more challenging. Through trial and error I have been learning to mix my colors with more accuracy.

  3. Love it, Brad! That's a cool background. And I like the blues in the dress, eyes, and hat!
I used to work in acrylics a lot in the past and I can attest to the challenged of mixing the right value to adjust for the darker drying.

    1. Thank you Dean! I have been making an effort to keep the backgrounds loose and the subject more refined in my paintings lately. I am glad you noticed the blues. They kind of compliment each other.

  4. I like how you've catched the relaxed atmosphere, it makes me think of a very calm sensation and I love how this woman stays indifferent to the viewer, as if the fluid sketch made her so absent-minded...

    Congratulations! Big hugs!
