Perhaps the most endangered 'big cat' in the world, the Amur leopard ranges in the valley along the Amur River—which trails the border of China and Russia.
This is an amazing animal from Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, IL. It was a joy to paint. After studying every inch of this cat, I am in awe of its beauty. The spots in themselves are each unique, none are the same. I can't wait to study another animal. So much to choose from.
This is beautifully executed. Thanks for educating others on our endangered species!

DeleteHow beautiful he is, Brad! It breaks my heart when I hear these amazing animals are so endangered...I love the way the light is hitting him...Congratulations on this wonderful piece. I look forward to seeing your next painting in 2013.
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilda! Yes, very sad about these beautiful animals. I really hope they make a comeback.
DeleteWow! It's really good, Brad. I like the dramatic impact of that background, and the way it brings to mind the way the animal really lives and the hard life it has. Even during rest, he looks alert and wary...
